Scoring Chances for NHL Game Number 20 855

The Phaneuf-Aulie pairing had an excellent night as they shut out the Sabres at even strength (though Phaneuf was on for the Sabres' softie goal that didn't qualify as a scoring chance), and logged big minutes on the PK where Toronto outchanced Buffalo 2-1.  Keith Aulie played 4:43 of the Leafs' 7:48 short-handed minutes.  The Leafs came up huge in the third period as they registered 11 chances and limited Buffalo to just 1.

Grabovski and co. were awesome once again, they held their opposition to just 1 chance all game.  Grabovski saw 7 chances for while on the ice, his wings got 8 as they got an extra chance with Joey Crabb towards the end of their shift with 17:10 left in the 3rd period.  I've got Joffrey Lupul down for 4 scoring chances that came off his stick, which was good for 2nd best on the Leafs just behind Grabovski's 5 chances.

Slava Duris started writing at his blog "Under the Helmet of Slava Duris" in May of 2009. He is currently engaged in a project to count scoring chances for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. Slava chose his moniker in tribute to Vitezslav "Slava" Duris, a defenceman who defected from Czechoslovakia in the early 1980s to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs and was known for wearing one of the goofiest looking helmets in Leafs history.
