The Playoff Prediction Project, Round 2

The first round of the playoffs is over, and it was a doozy. The best part is, there are three rounds to go, and the hockey isn’t likely to get any worse as time goes on.
After the jump, it’s time to make Round Two predictions.
Round One predictions can be found here. Scoring is as follows:
- Best series prediction record (length excluded)
- Tie-breaker one: Most accurate prediction in the Stanley Cup finals (winner and length)
- Tie-breaker two: Highest number of correct predictions (both series and length)
Writer predictions are below, and will, be updated as they come in:
| Writer | VAN/NSH | Games | S.J./DET | Games | WAS/T.B. | Games | PHI/BOS | Games |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Davie | VAN | 6 | S.J. | 6 | WAS | 5 | BOS | 7 |

PHI/BOS = (BOS,7)
1) The two series winners I called wrong in the first round are facing each other, and I like the way Trotz always has his team ready to play. That, and if history has taught us anything, the Canucks will eventually get beat in the playoffs.
2) SJ will be kicked to the curb by the Swedish Hockey Mafia from Detroit.
3) Roli playing like it's 2006! Why couldn't the Oilers find a cheap, veteran goalie like that instead of Re-Khabb?
4)I don't understand these teams, so I will go with the one that has a decent puck stopper.

Van-Nsh: Vancouver in 5. They just got a whole tribe of monkeys off their collective back.
SJ-Det: Detroit in 7. This should be the best series of round 2.
Wsh-TB: Washington in 6. The Caps seem to have figured out the whole playoff thing.
Phi-Bos: Boston in 7. There is a very good chance that every single player in this series will be suspended by the end of it.

Gawd,I had to listen to Van/Chi game 7 on radio. 5 minutes was all I could take; no wonder the fans are mindless Zombies. What a terrible homeristically slanted broadcast. Yeech!
Don't mean to hijack the thread but Copper and Blue is reporting that the Oilers have signed Anton Lander.

It could be perceived that I am predicting 3 upsets here but in my mind the teams I predict to loose have just never got the job done in the playoffs except Boston but I think Pronger will be back and that will doom Boston however. Nashville will stop Vancouver's Offense dead and that will mean the series. Tampa I just have to love Tampa They killed Calgary in 04 and that playoff experience will help but the real ace in the hole is ROLI I want him to go all the way and win the MVP and the way he played in game seven tells me he can do it. The great8 be limited in production and Roli will be the difference.

The thing I really have to love about hockey is that any one of us could be right. If this was Basket ball 90+% of the time you could predict the series and be right. Man I love this game Its fans and every thing about it. Canada's gift to the world is truly awesome.
You are a very wise biscuit.
Who won Round one? Or are you waiting till the Cup is won?
We are close and if Pronger is not back I think you will have it right but if Pronger shows up I think it is bye bye Boston.
Lowetide went 8 for 8 in his first round selections, almost nailed the number of games as well.

Only 5/8 in Round 1. Let's hope that some Windex can brighten up the ol' crystal ball for Round 2.
VAN/NSH = VAN(6)
SJ/DET = SJ(7)
WSH/TB = WSH(6)
PHI/BOS = BOS(7)
Nashville in 7 - Goaltending and Defence far superior to Hawks - more of a challenge and the Canucks cant seem to get many decent opportunities from their big guns
Detroit in 6 - A powerhouse taking on Playoff Chumps. SJ still doesnt want it bad enough, and the Wings do!
Washington in 5 - Finally we will see Ovie make the Conference finals! TB almost lost to Pens without their top 2 centermen (which happen to be 2 of the top 10 in the league). They sure wont be able to hold back the ofensive powerhouse of a healthy Caps team. Could be a sweep. Caps lack the goaltending the Pens had though.
Boston in 7 - Taking them over Philly cause they dont want a repeat of last year. And Philly almost lost to a goaltender and no one else in the first round. Boston has the goaltending depth, with more experienced defencemen and much better scoring. Will be close, but Boston will prevail.
Sheldon,
Pronger is normally the difference maker, but not if he can't grip his stick because his hand is totally borked.
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/39861-Campbell-Flyers-deny-Chris-Pronger-injury-is-worse-than-first-thought.html
A Philadelphia television station reported that Pronger, who is recovering from surgery on his right wrist, actually has a fracture in his hand that requires a plate and that he is unable to grip a stick.

Hey everybody,
DETROIT in 6 - SJ will put up a fight but DET is better.
VAN in 6 - Much as I'll cheer for Nashville, and I hate to say it, but I think the Canucks won the cup on Tuesday.
PHILLY in 7 - Could go either way, and Philly's goalers might make it go the other way quickly.
TAMPA in 7 - Dwayne Roloson's still got it.
