Dangle's Cards: You can lock out a league, but you can't lock out a sport

Well, this SHOULD be my first post-game video for the Leafs' home opener vs the Habs, but instead, I'm going on rant mode. Oh, and you can win a wicked-sweet Jake Gardiner rookie card. I know, right?!

Great job Steve. Not the same without the LFR's, but there's still plenty of good hockey being played elsewhere.

I'm from Calgary, so not a huge Leafs fan, but Jake Gardiner is a straight-up beauty. Watched the Marlies play the Amerks yesterday and I was very impressed with his play. Thanks for the vids too Dangle, love your passion for the best game you can name!

Great video Steve! It's really cool to hear about how far YouTube has affected ur jobs. I'm hoping one day to get into a sports management career preferably in hockey. It would be so cool to work with NHL players or even with a NHL organization!

Nice video steve! Although I feel kinda bad for the wild, considering they have to wait another year to see how parise and suter work out. But hopefully, HOPEFULLY the NHL will realize that the lockout can lead to many bad things for them and the two parties will agree on and sign a new CBA.

This is incredible I just want to say congratulations, I've only been watching you since last season but I love your videos and I'm so pumped that you get to do this for a living you were born for this. So entertaining to watch and keep me informed about what I actually want to hear about. I hope that if you do get bigger that you don't lose the whole bedroom theme I think it's awesome and really shows where it all started from. Best of luck with everything and I'll still be watching through the lockout :)... which hopefully won't be too much longer. OH! p.s I would love the Jake Gardiner hockey card.

Keep it up! :)

I am quite thankful for AHL and OHL games. Aside from that, I think it's absolutely amazing how far you've gotten since recording videos with a webcam in your room. Well, I mean, you're still doing that but among a whole bunch of other awesome stuff! Here's hoping that the lockout ends soon, so LFR can return!

Congrats on your success Steve. I only started watching your videos around the time the Olympics ended and I've enjoyed every video every since. Especially the drunken NHL 12 videos. xD

As for Gardiner, I hope he becomes a Top 2 defencemen for us. He has the potential.

Just some food for thought, if the is god forbid a lockout all season the leafs in my opinion would benefit the most. At the end of the year macarthur lombardi connolly steckel and lupul all become UFA's freeing up over 18 million dollars, which can be used to sign upcoming UFA's Corey Perry and/or Ryan Getslaf. Also if the draft lottery would be the same as in 04-05 each team would get 1 ball if u haven't had a first overall pick in a while u get another ball, leafs last 1st overall pick was in 1985, so there's another ball for the leafs, and if u haven't made the playoffs in a while u get another ball, leafs haven't made the playoffs in almost 10 years there's another ball. So leafs would have best odds of getting 1st overall and drafting a gem like nathan mackinnon. Go Leafs Go! Hate this lockout its killing me, hope I can win that card!!!

Great to hear of all your success. Been watching for several years now.

We may not have the leafs, but that is just more incentive for everyone to check out their local junior leagues or a Marlies game!

(Go Rangers)

All I can say is that watching the Marlies is going to be good anyways. They might have lost today, but a long season ahead for them anyways.

But really it's a great game, regardless of what outside forces try to do.

Since it's for a Jake Gardiner card, why not talk about him? He has been just a beast on the blue line for the Marlies so far. He most certainly does not look like a 22-year-old defenceman playing in just his second pro season.

I was really hoping for a good season out of the Leafs. No NHL so I got a season pass to the Halifax Mooseheads, who are going to be this years Memorial Cup champs ;) Also bought tickets to the CHL top Prospects game. I'm all set for this year, except for my Leafs.

Damn you Garry Bettman.

Oh yeah, I'd love that Jake Gardiner card Steve.

Jake Gardiner is going to do great this or next season in the NHL. Dallas Eakins was happy Jake gets to ride the bus to games rather than the private jets. AHL time will be a huge factor in his career. GO LEAFS!

Congrats Steve! I only started watching hockey 3 years ago and your reaction videos to leafs games really helped start my mad love of the maple leafs today.

I loved watching the Marlies play yesterday. The first period honestly had me the most excited about the leafs since the tumble started in february. If they keep dominating like that, it won't be bad at all.

For that reason, I can honestly say the lockout isn't as bothersome to me as I thought it would be. Bad contracts expire, prospects develop, a new CBA means a level playing ground and I think the leafs are going to come out strong.

Hey Steve. I haven't missed a video in two years and I wish I had discovered you earlier. I love your outlook on hockey not being locked out. I find myself being much ore interested in junior hockey such as whl (even though I'm from Belleville) and the Toronto Marlies. The Marlies are such a great team and I'm glad they are finally getting the spot light. (including Gardiner who's card you're giving away ;).

P.S. With 5 assists last night, Rielly is pretty great isn't he :D

Steve, Great video! IMO this lock out demonstrates that hockey is very much a living, breathing, entity. no nhl? no problem ( from a fan who doesn't depending on it existing). some what of a nice refresher that "hey, the nhl is just a league, despite being a good one, not the only one". so lets continue to give the O, A, and K the attention they deserve. and give the nhl the attention is deserves right now; none.

I don't know, it sucks that the NHL is locked out, but it's cool seeing some of the younger guys at [much cheaper] AHL games. I think I can survive without the NHL for a while as long as I have the AHL.

I love the leafs, i have been a loyal fan since the day i was born. Coming from die hard soccer fans in my family, i was the only one who really took an interest in hockey and i just love the sport which is why it is sooo hard to handle this lockout! I hope the season starts soon, GO LEAFS GO!!!

As much as I hate the lockout and miss hockey, remember what happened for the draft lottery the year after, how it was weighted towards teams who had missed the playoffs the last several years. Well there's only one team who hasn't made the playoffs since the previous lockout and would likely have the best chance at that #1 pick.
