NHLNumbers Logo Contest Winner

Today the Nation Network would like to announce the winner of the NHLNumbers logo contest - Entry "D" by Gregg Beever. Gregg is a graphic designer and webmaster by trade, but he also publishes a web comic called Inglorious Hipsters, which you should definitely check out. Follow Gregg on twitter here as well.

The number of quality submissions to the contest was high, so this was by no means an easy choice. A late "amalgam" entry by OilersNation commenter Lead Hands McLezy made our task even more difficult, but in the end we went with Gregg's original concept (although me may ask him to incorporate the Nation's iconic Fist logo somewhere in the final product).

Thank you again to everyone who entered.

Put a FIST somewhere. Make it subtle...

Nice Logo, I particularly liked the logo part of it. The non-logo part seemed to be lacking some logo.

Big thanks to everyone who voted for my entry! There was some stiff competition, so I'm honoured for mine to be chosen.

Great design and congratulations... looks clean and sharp... maybe Wayne's can be used from time-to-time like an "alternate jersey" or something?

Well... Leave it to Beever to come up with the winning logo.

Nice work Gregg, congrats!

Can I make the obvious joke about a stats blog being associated with a Beever?

Looks like a rip off of Sporting Charts' logo

Given what we know about hockey, isn't it time to give up the antiquated notion that fists matter and admit stats beat fist?

The only thing that beats stats is hot goalie.

@ Skin

Hmm. There are certainly some similarities.

And differences.

Hmm.

Nothing beats a good fisting... and yes, THAT is what she said!

I think rim shot is being under appreciated, and I would like to salute you.

The new one is far better. It has a slicker font, cleaner lines, it's more punchy, and has sexier colours. It may have been influenced, but it was drastically changed, and improved upon. I wouldn't have called it, "a rip off".
