Hockey Cards Aren't Locked Out!

NHL lockout be damned! Let's do this!

Just like the video says: Leave a comment and you'll be chosen at random to recieve one of either a hockey card with pieces of game-used jersey from four different former Leafs (Matt Stajan, Vesa Toskala, Luke Schenn, and Jason Blake), or a card atuographed by current Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf.

I have to agree with you Steve, LA looks like the team to beat this year (what year?!) They have a solid line up on all lines, and it doesn't hurt that they have Quick backstopping. Also that Phaneuf card would go great with my collection!

I too like the Kings this year. The Rangers were kind of a disappointment, and I feel like they have a LOT to play for. I like the Kings and the Rangers.

If the maturity level improves, I'd say the Pens certainly have a shot at winning. You use a couple of the best players in the league and you will usually have a chance at winning.

In terms of the cards, I'd go with the jersey one. A good reminder of the crazy overhaul we've seen with this team.

Wish I could say this is the Leafs years, but I'm more realistic than that. Kings look like the best team out there, but given difficulties to repeat, I gotta give it up to the Pens. They plugged a few holes in the off season and would have a full season of Crosby. Plus, man I just love Tanner Glass.

Would love to get in that Phaneuf card. Sorry, my man. Can't be with you on the Steelheads. Go Wolves!

Awesome that you're giving away hockey cards. I started collecting last year. I like base cards mostly so I don't own a game used jersey one yet but would be cool to get the one with the four ex-Leafs. Partly because I like history as well, I just started designing custom cards for guys who recently retired (I can design a Steve Dangle card, the front part but I haven't been able to find a large sized image yet).

Anyways, I'm gonna go with the Pens. I'm assuming that they'll be a bit healthier this/next season and some of the prospects like Morrow or Despres will take another step to shore up the defensive problems they had. Combine that with a better season from Fleury and a bit more depth on the wing now with a prospect like Tangradi contributing and I think it becomes a fairly solid Pens team.

On paper I like the Rangers more but just am not convinced by their offensive execution.

As a Flyers fan it pains me to say this but the New York Rangers will win the cup, INSANE offensive firepower, strong D, and a 1-2 punch with the King and Biron in net. Out west I see Minnesota making a run in all honesty. But LA is the team to beat, no doubt.

I have to agree Steve. The LA Kings were a solid, young, and achievable hockey team in the 2011-2012 season. The man that led them to the cup, Dustin Brown, the young 27 year old captain who scored 74 points for the Kings including the playoffs and the 2 goals and 1 assist in the Stanley Cup winning game.

Well obviously the Leafs, they will hands down win the cup... okay I'm being serious right now, i think the rangers will win it. With the addition of Rick Nash I think they raised their chances on winning much higher. With their goaltending, defense and ridiculous offence. I say hands down the New York Rangers will win the Cup this year.

I'd give it to the Rangers. The addition of Nash is just a great boost. If Gaborik played a little better, to what is expected of him they would have done a lot better.

Though I'd give the Sens a shot again. During that first series NYR-OTT I would say the Sens stepped up the the NYR level more than anything. They proved they can win a playoff game without Alfie. It would have been nice to see him get one more chance at the cup.

@Drew Flyers just need to level their goaltending and I'd give your guys a serious shot. That PIT-PHI series was nuts.

Would love a signed card of the Captain.

Okay so, if any team were to win the Cup, I've got good money on the Rangers. Although they got rid of some players, they still have Boyle, Richards, Stephan, and now Nash. Their goaltending has always been snazzy and solid in net. And after choking after last season after being number one in the east, I wouldn't be surprised if they stepped it up and didn't let it happen again.

Either card is fine.

My stanley cup pick for this upcoming season has gotta be th enew york rangers. With a pick u like rich nash they are serious contendors. Henrik lundquvist comein off just an amazing season will surely do even better next season. now with guys like richards gaborik callahan etc. they will be unstoppable. they also have the best backup goalie martin biron. They are just very solid all the way around and it wouldnt suprise me at all now that they have nash and newly added veteran jeff halpern. I believe they will be the next staley cup champs. jacob B.

Im ok with either card honestly. But i do perfer the phaneuf autograph!

If there was an NHL season this year, I think a healthy Penguins squad would win the cup. Crosby and Malkin, who in my opinion are the top 2 players in the NHL, would acrry their team, along with Fleury, to the cup.

LEAFS ARE GOING TO WIN 16 STRAIGHT AND TAKE HOME THE CUP!!!! #TMLtalk

Another biased answer, but I really like the Flyers right now. It was such a pity that they couldn't get it done in 2010 and while they have lost a slew of key guys from that run, there are some very promising young talents, cover boy in particular. The only thing that really makes me uneasy is the goaltending, but if Bryz can exponentially reduce his GAA to miniscule small, there'd be a solid team.

And the Rangers, of course, are a viable threat.

I'd like the card with a piece of Toskala, but either would be appreciated.

The team that I think would win the Stanley Cup (if there were an NHL Season) would be the New York Rangers since they are stacked from top to bottom.

I would prefer the Leafs' five former Leafs jersey pack.

I think pitsburg is an easy pick because this team really never got to play together healthy. Under dan bylsma there is no way that defense is goin to stay that horrible. You can never go wrong with a team that has the top two centres/players in the game. Not to mention they still have an awesome 2 way centre in Sutter! Stall maybe gone but look out for that guy. Fleury has to have a bounce back season too, this guys been to consistent to go cold now. They say specialty teams win playoff games and they probably have the most dynamic powerplay right now and bylsma has been known to send out a killer penalty team, there is no way this team will lose

I think the team that will win the Stanley Cup is the New York Rangers, I mean with the addition of Rick Nash there gonna be a much more offensive team, last season when I was watching them in the Post Season I was pretty amazed of how good a team they are. Goaltending is solid in Henrik, D is pretty good with Del Zotto, and the offense you already know, Nash, Gaborik, Richards. Also I'd appreciate the Game worn Jersey card. But Either way I'd be grateful for a Phaneuf one too.

I think the Boston Bruins have the best shot at winning the stanley cup. reasons: 1. Tuuka Rask has been waiting for 7 years to get the oppurtunity to be a starter in the NHL, this is his year, i think he will rise to the occasion, that combined with a good defence should equal a low goals against average. 2. Tyler Seguin- Seguin has proven he can play in the NHL, but he has never played a full season on top line, this is his year to shine. He already proved he can put up points on a second line role, but seeing him play center for the top line, will probably be scary for the other 29 teams in the NHL

Look out for the St. Louis Blues. They have enough talent and prospects stockpiled right now that I think they can swing a deal during the season or at the deadline to get some proven post-season performers and make a good run at the Cup. My guess is a New York Ranger-St. Louis Cup final with St. Louis taking the cheese.

This lockout is getting me down. I knew it was on the cards but I promised my friend if he got Winter Classic tickets I'd be there. He got the tickets, I booked my flights halfway around the world and then the NHL lockout happened. I'm reading all the commentary etc. and it just all looks more and more likely that my first chance to see a live Leafs game could not be happening.

Go Marlies!

While it's easy to say L.A/Chicago...you can't ignore the NHL Non-Curse Cover...thing...

The Flyers have that bizarre edge...

I'm just joking though. I would have to go with the Rangers just because of their overall solid team. Just looking at their forwards your eyes will always land on a great player.

Not to mention their fantastic goaltending duo Lundqvist and Biron.

I feel they were just waiting for the young Kings to get cocky in the next season and then POUNCE...like TIGERS.

Hey Steve! I think if there is a season that Detroit for the west and Philly for the east would win the cup. I think Detroit is still a strong contender every year and that Philly has put together a sturdy core of a contender and could challenge every year just like Detroit has done for years now. I would love the dion phaneuf card but would be happy with either one :)

hey Steve! I believe that the New York Rangers are the best bet to win the cup. They have arguably one of the top 3 goalies in the league being king henrik. they have a young and strong defensive group that will only get better after a good season last year, and by adding nash they now have one of the top offence in the league. When you have ryan callahan on your second or even third line, you know your forwards are deep. Plus I think they have the pieces (prospects and picks) available to deal at the deadline to maybe add another good defenseman or even a good bottom six forward. I am also a big Phaneuf fan and I have been watching him since he played in the WHL, would love a card of him :)

I think the Kings have a good shot at the West if there is a season. So many young stars like Richards, Carter, Brown, Doughty, Quick, and Kopitar. And when you include veterans like Gagne, Stoll, Greene, Scuderi, and Williams, and then depth guys like Penner, they are just so overpowering. Plus there's youngster like Nolan, King, Voynov, and Clifford who will be good down the road. In the East there's the Pens who have an insane amount of firepower in Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Letang, and Fleury (assuming he gets back to form). I wouldn't count the Flyers out either as Briere's still got a few good years in him and so does Timonen. Giroux is good and getting better, as are Couterier and Brayden Schenn. Bryzgalov needs to be sharp this year though if they want to do anything. Luke Schenn will be good I think. I think the Rangers win the East with a Vezina calibre year from Lundqvist and solid play from Callahan, Gaborik, Staal, Girardi, Del Zotto, McDonagh, and Nash who I think will thrive both on better teammates (just like in international play) and on playing in the more offensive Eastern Conference. Overall, I think the Kings will/would win against the Rags in the finals.

Hey, Steve. If there was hockey this year, I'd say the Pittsburgh Penguins would win the Stanley cup. (I'm not bias because I'm a Leafs fan, obviously) The reason for that is because last year Crosby did not play a full season, but was dominant in the games he did played. So a healthy Crosby,+Malkin+Letang=Unstoppable. And if you're having doubts in net, since Fleury did look shaky in the playoffs last season, they now have Vokoun who has shown that he can get it done in the NHL. So Penguins for Lord Stanley 2012-2013, if there is a season for course. The Phaneuf Card would be most appreciated :D

After what I saw last season from the Rangers, and the addition of Rick Nash, I feel good to say that i think / hope / pray the Rangers will win the holy grail this year. Assuming the whole season isn't locked out. If someone told me last year that they'd be 2 wins away from playing in the Stanley Cup Finals, i'd call'em crazy. With that said, i can't help but feel optimistic about the team this year. I wouldn't trust any other goalie to carry the team except Hank. However, our D is looking pretty deep so far, taking some of the pressure off Hank. We got Danny G and Marc Staal as our shutdown pair. Then we have Mcdonagh, who is no less than f-cking awesome (thanks Montreal)!. And our D can only improve when Michael Sauer returns after getting Dion-smashed. But of course when the team is looking majestic as heck the league decides to get locked out..would love to see Stanley parade down Manhattan before i die. #54moreyears?

I think this year the best bet would be the Boston Bruins for the second time in three years. They have tons of rough, hard hitting players, with some playmaking and scoring to include, like krejci and bergeron. They also have a goaltender who has had some experience, and will prove everyone that he can be a good, firm #1 goaltender, Tuukka Raask
