It's a difficult afternoon to concentrate on hockey, so this New Jersey Devils/Toronto Maple Leafs "preview" post will just be a few numbers and line combinations rather than any pontificating spiel about roster decisions or optimization.

The short season and an untimely injury to Ilya Kovalchuk could mean the New Jersey Devils will be the best team to ever miss the playoffs.

Per Randy Carlyle, Joffrey Lupul is available for the Leafs tonight. We should know by warm up whether or not he's back in the lineup. I don't think it's a boost the Leafs need at this point. They have a lot of scoring right now and would clinch a playoff spot if they managed just five points in their last seven games. I get you don't want to take your foot off the gas pedal, but I don't think they should take chances with head injuries of any kind.

Any members of Leafs Nation in or around Boston today, stay safe. Every other member of Leafs Nation... you guys stay safe as well. Full recap as scheduled after the game.

This should be a real good game as Devils defensive style is awesome I always like to see where the leafs fair when competing. How their defensive style matches up goals for goals against what they can do to improve, weaknesses, strengths. 3-1 Leafs pre-game prediction due to struggles and injuries to Devils. Otherwise wouldn't even give Leafs that as they are still in development and the Devils well their Masters of defensive play. Oh 3rd goal empty netter for record.

Really sad the devils are in danger of missing playoffs for the 3rd time in 25 yrs. Not because of a system fail more like injuries and struggle on point production. No lucky bounces or mental error by goalies should be a really good game.

Agree totally with you on lupul they give him tonight and tomorrow off he has more games of practice and longer recovery time why rush it.
