It's a weird feeling losing your top scorer and not really being fazed by it. The Leafs, who lost a tight seven-goal affair last outing against the Sharks, found out earlier this week that James van Riemdsyk is broken. Tonight, they face their first game without their 14-goal man- against the league's current worst team in the standings- the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Kerby Rychel wants out of Columbus- this much is known. Where to, exactly, is anyone's best guess.

An article by Aaron Portzline reports that Toronto is among one of at least seven teams who have expressed interest in the 2013 first round pick after his trade request. With that many options, it seems like Columbus is most likely to wait for a perfect offer before giving up on a guy who's supposed to be among their top prospects. However, as in any trade deal, they may be forced to undersell.

The Leafs' top Canadian prospect netted two third-period power play goals in the World Junior Championship in a 6-5 quarterfinal loss to host Finland.

In perhaps their toughest group in recent memory, Canada ended off 2015 with an less-than-impressive 5-2 loss against Sweden. 

Though the final standings were set before puck drop, Canada failed to beat either of the top two competitors in their group, finishing the round robin with just wins over Denmark and Switzerland.

Whew, that was close.

Down 2-0 and tied 2-2 heading into the third, Canada eked out a less than impressive 3-2 shootout win over a previously 0-2 Switzerland team for their second win at the 2016 World Juniors.

Matt Barzal and Brayden Point scored in the shootout to seal the deal in a surprisingly difficult game for Canada.
