WJC Canada Pregame: Marner, Dermott to make World Junior Debut Against Rival Americans

Moving away from the traditional New Years Eve matchup, Canada takes on rival USA in the first game of their 2016 World Junior campaign.

Making their debut for Canada today are Leafs prospects Mitch Marner and Travis Dermott. Behind the bench  for the American side is another familiar face for Toronto fans, in former coach Ron Wilson.

WWYDW: Would you Trade Leo Komarov?

After having a clear offensive leader for much of the 2000's, the Leafs find themselves for the first time without an elite offensive individual talent for the first time in years.

Often seen as a grinder or a power forward in his first two years with the team, Leo Komarov has seen himself (surprisingly?) be the team's joint leading scorer heading into the Christmas break, with 12 goals and 12 assists so far.

As Komarov is currently on year two of a four-year, $2.95 million per year contract, talks have been heating up recently that maybe- just maybe- trading Komarov might actually be what's best for this Leafs future.

It's official- the Maple Leafs will see two of their own wearing a different Maple Leaf this holiday season.

A pair of Leaf prospects- Mitch Marner and Travis Dermott- were named to the final roster for the upcoming World Junior Championship kicking off this Saturday in Helsinki, Finland.

Bernier saved the first shot... and the second shot... and the next 24 after that, too.

A 5-0 win against the Kings for Jonathan Bernier's first victory of the season- just like everyone predicted.

Bernier (finally!) got the monkey off his back, earning his shutout of the year in impressive fashion.
