The Edmonton Oil Kings have defeated the Guelph Storm by a score of 6-3 to win the 2014 Mastercard Memorial Cup. Most importantly, that means that the three Leafs prospects taking part in the tournament have all gone home empty handed.
Yeah, that sounds about right.

I've been working on this NHL draft selection database on and off over the past year. I've simply referred to it as a 'Draftbook'. It took a while to build it, clean it up, and then decide what to do with it... but now that it's 'finished' I've decided to simply post it online for everyone to download and use.
So what is it? Well, it's a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet of every player that has been drafted into the NHL since 1963. Data fields include draft position, player names, player positions, teams, height, weight, amateur teams and amateur leagues.

Goalie prospects, especially those who come out of the QMJHL, can be pretty difficult to evaluate.
For example, when the Leafs drafted Antoine Bibeau in the 6th round of the 2013 NHL Draft (his second year of eligibility), the reaction was pretty, uh, well I'm not sure if there was a reaction. As time passed, Bibeau's stat lines didn't strike anyone as "amazing", or even "good". In fact, when TLN put together its Leafs Prospects Midterm Rankings, Bibeau didn't even make our list of honourable mentions, let alone our top twenty list.

Sportnet’s Chris Johnston tweeted out this neat little nugget of info after NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman’s media availability this morning:
Gary Bettman says a weaker Canadian dollar will put next year's salary cap at $69M or $70M. Had been projected at $71M.— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) May 3, 2014
The Canadian dollar currently sits at US $0.91. For comparison's sake, the Canadian Dollar sat at US $1.01 back on January 6th, 2013 - the day the new CBA was agreed upon and the 2012-2013 NHL lockout ended.

More positive prospect news for Toronto… Andreas Johnson, the Leafs 7th round pick in 2013, has been named the SHL's Rookie of the Year after scoring 15 goals and 24 points in 44 games this season. The speedy winger beat out Alexander Wennberg (CLB), Kevin Fiala (2014 Eligible), and fellow Leafs prospect Tom Nilsson for the honours. All but Fiala play for Frolunda, which is pretty impressive in itself.
