I can't speak for all of you, but when I called in sick this morning, it was because I'm actually suffering from a cold. It wasn't because EA Sport's NHL 14 hit the shelves today - though, I still did manage to drag myself out of bed and pick it up.

Shut up.

TLN Top Twenty Prospects: No. 8 - Petter Granberg

Of all Toronto Maple Leafs prospects, Petter Granberg is likely the biggest riser. Amongst a prospect pool that is largely three or four years away (or more) from competing for an NHL roster spot, Granberg has emerged from the relative unknown to actually push for a job as early as this upcoming season.

Despite his quiet development, Granberg has accomplished quite a bit since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. Besides appearing in 73 games for Skelleftea's men's team (with whom he won an Elitserien Championship), Granberg has an U18 World Junior Championships silver medal, a U20 World Junior Championships gold medal, and a World Championship gold medal.

TLN Top Twenty Prospects: No. 15 - Dominic Toninato

Name: Dominic Toninato
Position: Centre
Hometown: Duluth, Minnesota
Size: 6'1, 180lbs
2013 Team: Fargo Force (USHL)
Acquired: Draft, 5th Round, 2012

It's inevitable that Dominic Toninato's progress will be closely tied to 2011 draft pick Tony Cameranesi's. Both were drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 5th round, both were selected out of Minnesota high schools, both spent a year in the USHL prior to starting their NCAA career, and both are now University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

TLN Top Twenty Prospects: No. 17 - Tony Cameranesi

Name: Tony Cameranesi
Position: Center
Hometown: Maple Grove, Minnesota
Size: 5'10", 180lb
2013 Team: University of Minnesota-Duluth (WCHA)
Acquired: Draft - 5th round, 2011

Plain and simple, I don't think Tony Cameranesi has gotten the attention he deserves. As a 5th round pick from two years ago, it's understandable that the Minnesota high school product took a backseat to more high profile prospects in the Leafs system. Still, Cameranesi followed up a strong rookie season with Waterloo of the USHL with an equally, if not stronger rookie season with Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA.

So close. These guys all found their way on to somebody's Top Twenty list, but didn't receive enough votes from the Leafs Nation staff in order to get their own special profile in our upcoming countdown. It's not all bad news, however… As these guys received at least some recognition, they are now ineligible to rank anywhere in next month's TLN Worst Leafs Prospect special.
