There were some interesting items of note from today's Leafs camp scrimmages. For example, 19-year-old Morgan Rielly skated on a defensive pairing with Dion Phaneuf. More interesting to me though was just how nasty things got.
Here's what went down.

Neat picture, but who's the knob interviewing Darryl Sittler with a Galaxy S3?
I had the opportunity to have a brief chat with Leafs legend and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Darryl Sittler on Friday morning about this year's Leafs, Morgan Rielly, and Tim Leiweke's stance on Leafs history.
How you ask?

I didn't need to use this picture, but I really, really wanted to.
Unless you missed the 40,000 tweets about it, "The Dream" aka Nazem Kadri has signed a two-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. As fellow awesome TLN writer Cam Charron wrote shortly before this post, Kadri's contract is very good for the Leafs.
I'm not here to talk about the contract itself. We've already touched on that. What I want to talk about is what happens next. Are you ready for it? OK here it is...

I remember Stuart Percy's draft day.
While covering the 2011 Memorial Cup in Mississauga, I met Percy about a month before his draft day. Percy was playing for the host Mississauga St. Michael's Majors (now the Steelheads), and while he wasn't the biggest name on the team, he was making some of the biggest headlines.
Ranked 53rd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, it looked like Percy would go somewhere around the 3rd round. Brian Burke spoke very highly of Percy however, and suggestions came out that not only would the Leafs like to draft him in the 1st round, but that he may not even still be available by that point.
I was DMing Stuart on Twitter the day before and the day of the draft. Nothing in particular, until around zero hour.

The boys are very sleepy, but they talk about Nazem Kadri (surprise!), NHL 14, Mason Raymond, Twitter feuds, and Jeffler calls in with a very awkward Tyler Bozak encounter.
