There's no doubt the start of this season has been an exciting one for Leafs fans. Despite the club dropping three of their four opening games, any concerns about leaning on the rookies have seemingly been put to rest, and the brand of hockey being played looks like it'll be about 700x more entertaining than it has the last few seasons.

That said, they have dropped three of four, and in each loss have blown a lead in the third period. These are close, winnable games, so I wanted to ask the TLN staff what they think has been the main reason for the Leafs' struggles and what, if any, lineup tinkering they might do heading into the weekend.

It may have seemed like the three day break earlier this week was never-ending, but after a rough start to the first road trip of the season in the 'Peg last night, we're back at it again. It feels like the season is getting into full swing as the Leafs need to turn around just 24-hours later and play in Minnesota.

It'll be our first look at Jhonas Enroth in net, as Andersen gets a somewhat needed break after getting shelled by the Jets, the second time he's allowed five goals through these opening three games.

Every summer when draft time rolls around, we get to talking about the value of selections and the probability of prospects turning into serviceable NHL players. To the surprise of absolutely no one, picks from the beginning of the draft generally do much better than the ones in the later rounds.

But even with that simple piece of information in mind, we know basically every team has players turn out who were selected beyond the first round, and some are fortunate enough to eventually get a star out of the mix.

There are going to be a lot of eyes on Toronto this evening. I'd go as far as saying tonight's home opener is perhaps the most hyped Leafs game since the team's brief 2013 playoff appearance.

The NHL is in full Matthews mode

I can't say I watch NBC Sports Network regularly or pay much attention to their NHL broadcast outside of the playoffs, but one thing I've learned is they don't schedule many (barely any) games featuring Canadian teams over the regular season. Winter Classics are an exception.

NBCSN unsurprisingly sticks mostly to the major markets in the States like Chicago, Philly, Washington, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Boston, and so on. Makes sense, given, you know, they're an American sports station. In fact, as far as Canadian content goes, over the entire 2015-16 season they only aired two appearances by Montreal, against the Bruins and Penguins - both mid-week games. No Canadian team was featured on a Saturday night.

But now, with the mania over Auston Matthews sweeping through the league, NBC has changed things up on the fly and decided to add Toronto's home opener this weekend to their broadcast schedule. That's a big deal.
