Going to bed at 7:30 PM is bad for you if you're going to just wake up again at 10:30 PM. Enjoy this dive into the mailbag (which was more full than usual; sorry if I didn't answer you this time), while I try to find a way to pass out for a bit.

It's January 15th and the Toronto Marlies are the worst team in the North Division. Just a year ago, they finished the year with one of the best records in AHL history, and here we are talking about 0.500 being a dream to attempt to accomplish.

People expected regression, but they didn't expect a chance at being third-last in the league at the halfway point. But something doesn't feel right about this; what is a team full of quality players, that started hot, and has scored as many goals as they've allowed doing at the bottom of the standings?

They were more worried when it turned out that he tweaked something in warmups yesterday and that there were questions about him being ready to go.

It didn't matter. He came in, he was about as steady as a backup has been for the Leafs this year, and they supported him with the goals he needed en route to a 4-2 victory in the land of Parliament.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs headed to Ottawa to take on the Senators, the Marlies stayed back home to take on the Rochester Americans for the third time in a week. Unfortunately for them, this ended a little bit closer to the result of Game #2 than Game #1, and the Marlies fell 3-2 in a nailbiter.
