I'm seeing a lot of 82 game pace numbers being spread around the Internet right now for forwards on the Toronto Maple Leafs, mostly for the sake of arguing about people. The issue I have with a lot of these numbers is that they don't account for ice time, so for the sake of your yelling, I've adjusted the numbers a bit for you. Enjoy and fly forth, young angry birds.

Leafs Post Game - Quack Quack, Mr. Badstick

Some may say that this road tour of California is one that will give the Leafs a rude awakening. While there's a lot of potential for that to be true; it's better to look at it from a different angle. Any team that wants to make a serious dent come playoff time should be capable of keeping up with the best. The Anaheim Ducks are technically the second best at the moment, but that's still a pretty high hurdle to face. After all, they've more or less clinched themselves a playoff spot already! That's pretty dominant.

But give the Leafs some credit; they pulled out a surprising win to get the trip underway, beating the Ducks by a score of 3-1.

"Shouldn't the Leafs game be on right now?" Not exactly. The west coast is lame, and time zones are lamer, so the Leafs still have a couple of hours before they drop the puck. We'll talk about that game soon, but for now, how about answering a couple of questions? Without further ado..

Not to be outdone by the Leafs' tradition of honoring teams that won so long ago that they're irrelevant to the organization today, the Toronto Marlies made a point to honour the 1960 Memorial Cup winning Toronto Marlboros. Despite the team playing at a completely different level, not to mention 54 years ago, it was still a pretty cool pre-game ceremony. Plus, we got to see a ceremonial faceoff involving two of the best jerseys outside of the NHL, which is always nice.

Also, hockey! Yes, it was a game of shots and not punches, but one that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton managed to get a little bit more out of, edging the Marlies by a score of 4-3 in the shootout.

Frazer McLaren wasn't around to "set the tone", or whatever you want to call it in today's game (he's been called up in case of Clarkson-emergency), but I don't think he was particularly necessary. After all, the Toronto Marlies and Lake Erie Monsters were just hours removed from one of the scrappiest games the American Hockey League has seen this season. Steve Spott called out the referees as poorly controlling yesterday's mess, so really, it came as no surprise that the two teams took the opportunity to settle their differences in the way the wanted to today.

At the same time, there was still a matter of the scoreboard, and a hat trick was the difference in a 4-1 Marlies win.
