I've put together scoring chances data for the Leafs' goaltenders.  This includes their performance against A, B, and C grade chances, against Net Presence type chances, and against opposition Breakaways and Odd Man Rushes in each situation (Even Strength, 1-man Advantage PPs, and PKs while down 1 man).

Once again, this is from the 80 games that I recorded on the season, I do not have the detailed data for the other two games.

A few weeks ago, I introduced a category of stats known as "Net Presence Scoring Chances", which consist of rebounds, deflections, and chances through traffic (shots on goal that got through bodies in front without touching anybody enroute to the net).  We previously viewed the regular season results for the 2010-11 Toronto Maple Leafs, today we will check out their work during Special Teams play.

A little while back, we took a look at the frequency of High Quality Scoring Chances (aka A-chances) for and against that the Leafs produced while each individual player was on the ice.  In this post, we'll finally get around to checking out the number of high percentage shots for and against for each player on the Power-Play (5v4 and 4v3) and the Penalty Kill (4v5 and 3v4).

Net Presence Scoring Chances During Even Strength Play

I've got yet more scoring chances data to present, this time we will be looking at several types of scoring chances that fall under what I consider "Net Presence Chances".

Over the 2010-11 season, I was able to consistently track special kinds of chances such as breakaways, odd man rushes, shots deflected on goal, rebound chances, and shots through traffic (whens the goalies view of the shot adequately obstructed by either a single attacking player or multiple players in front of the net).  I took the latter three chance types and combined them into a stat I've dubbed "Net Presence" chances, as they result from the offensive players working in close to the net. These are all high-percentage scoring chances; in total the Leafs scored on 25.4 % of these chances, while the opposition scored on 22.5 % of their NP chances.*

* Definitions for the abbreviations can be found at the bottom of the post.

Over the 2010-11 season, I tracked scoring chances for 80 of 82 Toronto Maple Leafs games, with the other two games tracked by other bloggers. I've already posted team statistics for Even Strength, Power Play, and Short Handed situations here at LeafsNation. Now we're going to dig deeper, starting with a look at High Quality Scoring Chances during even play.
