Unfortunately, I don't have a new storyline for you tonight. There isn't anybody who had their coming out party, or is sliding into your stat sheet with a quiet streak. The Toronto Marlies are good right now, and they're showing that off in a very obvious way. In last night's case, it was a 6-1 win over the Binghamton Senators; a team that previously provided them their only significant loss of the season. Let's look at the game that was.

The 2015 Maple Leafs have really shed their reputation of being lazy and bad defensively, and have developed a brand new one: working really hard, but still losing. 

Tonight was no different, except for the Leafs looking like they had a win in the bag. That is, until Washington scored with 1.7 seconds left. This is the new Leafs tragedy we will be talking about for years to come. #ItWasTwoOne

Daniel Winnik Leaves Game In First Period With Lower Body Injury

Fans were very excited for Daniel Winnik's return when he signed a two-year contract this summer. The local native gave it his all when he played for the Leafs, and was one of the most effective scorers of last year's team. Getting a 2nd and 4th round pick to lend him to the Penguins a bit? Icing on the cake. 

But now, it looks like the team might be lending him to the Injured Reserve, thanks to an unfortunate collision with Washington Capitals forward Justin Williams.

It's Hockey Night in Washington as the Toronto Maple Leafs head to the U.S. capital for a date with the... Oh. The Capitals. I actually didn't mean to do that. Oh well. I'll own it.

The Leafs are coming off an overtime loss last night to Detroit - a game in which Toronto looked pretty good but couldn't beat Petr Mrazek. Tonight, they'll be up against another talented netminder in Braden Holtby, not exactly the kind of goalie one of the league's worst offences wants to come up against.
