A few hours ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost their second game of the season to the Pittsburgh Penguins. We learned some things, like that Jonathan Bernier, Phil Kessel, and Stephane Robidas are probably still nursing injuries, because they've been, well, uncharacteristically bad. We learned that Sidney Crosby, unsurprisingly, is still amazing at the sport he's been atop of for years. Lastly, we learned how long it would take for somebody to rage-quit this year's team in public.
Four days. We are four days into the regular season. Here's the thing about this jersey-tossing statement - it's really stupid.

That wasn’t good. It was bad, even.

Ten years. It's been about that long since Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment sat down and decided that having an AHL affiliate three kilometres away from the Air Canada Centre made more sense than having one three thousand away. Over the years, the team has gone from a convince to a competitor, one that has been loaded with youth. Today, the Toronto Marlies opened up yet another season against the Utica Comets, and unfortunately for them, the game ended in a 2-1 loss.

Okay, whatever. So the Leafs lost the first game. It's in the past; 81-1-0 is still the best record in NHL history, and if 99.44 germ removal is good enough for some bathroom soaps, its good enough to be the Leafs' year-end Corsi-for percentage. Tonight, the Leafs take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It's early in the season, but how are ya feeling so far? Is it same old Leafs or do you have renewed faith?
