Man, Connor McDavid is good. he's played seventeen fewer games than Mitch Marner and twenty fewer than Dylan Strome, yet he's only twelve points back of the scoring lead. It would have been really nice if this tank could have started sooner, but with games like tonight, there may be hopes for the lottery balls yet. Needless to say, the Leafs lost again.

LGD- Eric Brewer Bowl

Eric Brewer is known for many things. 2002 Olympic Gold Medallist, member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, journeyman NHL defenceman. Tonight, he'll make himself known for something else- becoming a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs- and in doing so, suit up for his sixth NHL team. Brewer is 9 games away from the 1000 career game milestone, and at age 35, he's had a rather solid NHL career.

(Point of note: Where the hell did that goalie stick in the photo come from, and why is it so upright????? I've been trying to figure it out for like, 10 minutes. My best guess is that either Bozak or Brewer is a wizard. If you have any theories, please comment them or contact me. I'm really, really, curious.)

Back to School: Which Communications Major Could Improve the Leafs?

The trade deadline has passed. The draft is still over three months away. Tanking is depressing and I'm not ready to adopt new teams for the playoffs. It’s time to fill that void with NCAA free agent speculation since their season will be wrapping up shortly and we are about a month away from the Frozen Four finals in Boston, it seems like as good a time as any to preview names that aren't Jack Eichel or Noah Hanifin.

Over at SBN College Hockey they've been counting down the top 100 prospects in College Hockey. The Leafs Dominic Toninato was #20 and he was the only entry on the list of the five Toronto NCAA players. While Toninato appearing on the list is encouraging, I'm more interested in finding the next Scrivens or Bozak (for these purposes being Tyler Bozak is a good thing) and avoiding the next Brayden Irwin, Tyler Brenner, Simon Gysber, Christian Hanson, …anyway, the Leafs have one player contract left to use, and here are a few interesting ways of using it.

In the fall, I asked an NHL scout about the CHL's western league and was informed it was a 'down year' and there might not be a Top 10 overall selection in the WHL. Six months later? Ivan Provorov has changed the landscape.

On The Air Tonight

Graphic Comments
March 04 2015 05:19PM

If you are at all like me (God help you), you were a little confused by the announcement from TSN (the Totally Sorry Network) yesterday afternoon that they would be apologizing to Dion Phaneuf, Elisha Cuthert and Joffrey Lupul "on the air tonight".

I mean, if you're going to apologize, just do it. Don't delay it any longer than necessary, for God's sake.

But then it hit me, what better way to get people to actually bother tuning in to watch a game between the Leafs and the Panthers!

Anyway, that line tweaked a thought in my head and since I will go to any lengths to do this drum solo, with apologies to Phil Collins, I present: On The Air Tonight...
