The Toronto Marlies will soon be unveiling their jersey for December 30th’s Comerica Park game against the Grand Rapids Griffins, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see them earlier. Real Sports Apparel accidentally put this jersey up on their website for sale yesterday, before quickly taking it down. It’s safe to say this is what will be shown on Saturday afternoon.
The jersey features the AC crown from the Toronto Marlboros (used in the Marlies’ current alternate jersey), a Vancouver-esque arching city title, and a striping pattern that, while not identical, gives a similar vibe to the one on the jersey the Leafs will use.
Personally, I really like it down the middle, though I can’t say I’m a fan of the arm/shoulder striping. It feels like a mixture of a faux-back and a modern jersey, which I suppose is a very AHL thing to do.
No confirmation as of yet if this will be a one off, or used in further games.
