Phaneuf Not Quite Ready to Come Back

According to coach Peter Horachek, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be without the services of Dion Phaneuf for a little while long as his hands continue to heal from punching people in the face.

From TSN’s Jonas Siegel…

That means we likely won’t see Phaneuf playing until at least next Thursday night, the 26th of February, when the Leafs host the Philadelphia Flyers at the ACC.

The most important thing in this situation is that Phaneuf rests that hand and ensures he doesn’t rush back too soon. After all, this team is losing hockey games just fine without him, and a messed up hand means messed up trade value.

Get well soon(ish), Dion.

The Leafs were losing with him and are losing without him. His absence has made NO impact on the team. And that says all that needs to be said about Phaneuf. He is a non-impact hockey player.

So it matters little if he’s there for the next two crucial games that Tank Nation needs the Leafs lose.

LET HIM SIT EVEN WHEN HE IS HEALTHY, THE LAST TWO GAMES BEFORE TRADE DEADLINE YOU PLAY HIM TO SHOWCASE THAT HE IS READY. DONT LET HIM GET HURT ANY FURTHER, HE HAS A LITTLE RETURN. GIVE GRANNBERG AND PERCY, HOLZER THE ICE TIME. IF THERE ARE ANY MORE INJURIES OR TRADES TO THE LEAFS DEFENCEMEN YOU BRING UP ANY WARM BODIES FROM THE MARLIES FOR A LOOK SEE.

he needs to come back and up that trade value. 9 want all of our trade baits to heat up but still want the team to keep losing for the tank. time for bozak to step up and phaneuf/lupul to come back.
