I agree if we could magically teleport the team we have now, with all the development that they’ve had in the AHL this year, back to the start of the year, the Leafs would not be in last place. They wouldn’t make the playoffs but they would be a hell of a lot better than the Habs and Sens and really that’s what matters!

But I think Gaudreau’s turtle gesture was made more in response to Kadri’s throat slashing gesture that he made to Gaudreau in their previous match up. They should both just stick to hockey and leave the pantomimes at home.

If the current lineup played the entire season, they would have 7-10 more wins with a record of 33-28-11/ 77 points or 36-25-11/83 points and would be either 6 points back of the second wildcard or fighting with the Flyers and Wings for a berth in the playoffs.

Next season could/should/will be a blast. GO LEAFS!

In November I speculated the Leafs would finish with 67 points (29-44-9)
after starting the season 1-7-2, it appears they will be more successful than I thought. Babcock is the best coach in the world… Are you listening Oilers fans?

“AHL team plus five other dudes.”

This year’s Marlies might be the best AHL team in history. They are very special.

The first time I saw them live, all I could think was they look a notch above the AHL like an AHL\NHL hybrid. For most of the season I thought the Marlies might be capable of beating a bad NHL team…the talent level is that high and we are seeing it in the production from the Marlie kids.

With Sparks in net on Saturday that team was mostly Marlies (11 played games for the Marlies this year) and they beat the Sabres, a bad NHL team.

Add JVR and Bozak to this current line up and team is right in the middle of the league. I think they make the playoffs.

There I said it, barring major injury, I think the Leafs contest for a playoff spot next year.
