The Leafs continue to spread out their selections, drafting defenceman Keaton Middleton with the 101st overall pick.
Middleton is a large (6’5, 234 pounds) defensive defenceman who completed his second season with the Saginaw Spirit this season. He’s definitely not been a factor on the scoresheet, putting up just 16 points in 127 OHL games to date, and there are questions about his skating ability.
To be honest with you, I’ve got nothing on this pick. He’s probably got another two years ahead of him in Junior before we can begin to develop a solid opinion as far as an NHL future goes, but as it stands right now, he seems like a long shot, and not in the “high ceiling” way either.
