Lost in all the hysteria of the Leafs’ playoff-clinching weekend was that the Toronto Marlies are in the thick of their season-ending stretch right now. We didn’t really touch base very much with the kids at Ricoh this weekend, so here’s a bit of what you missed.
While we all nervously await the start of the first round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Capitals, those who pull the strings in town have done their best to make the whole ordeal as festive as possible. Today, Toronto Mayor John Tory made this proclamation.
Toronto felt like a different city on Saturday night. After beating the Penguins, a Leafs team led entirely by youths was on its way to the playoffs. A much needed full-season playoff berth not seen by the city in over a decade. The mood was much different Sunday night.
