Preseason LGD: A Sens Of Things To Come

It’s (Preseason) Game Day!

Get excited, folk’s. The Toronto Maple Leafs – with a background cast of AHLers in tow – take on the Ottawa Senators tonight, who are all pretty much AHLers to begin with.

This should be a fun way to kick things off. Let’s get down to business.

Leafs Lines

Some thoughts…

  • No Semyon Der-Arguchintsev is lame; it would have been nice to ease him into some “NHL” action against the Senators.
  • We get our first look at Ygor Ozhiganov tonight, which is cool. Most still consider him a long-shot to crack the big club, but every look is a chance to impress, I suppose.
  • It’ll be nice to see Garret Sparks in a Leafs sweater tonight; hopefully as a preview for a full season of Sparks finally joining the big boys.
  • Who is “Tavares”? Does anybody know?

Senators Lines

The sad thing is I wouldn’t even be surprised if this closely resembled the Senators opening night lineup. Like, at all.

Side note: I wonder what Mark Borowiecki thinks about tonight’s preseason opener.

Starting Goalies

I’d bank on McElhinney versus Condon, at least to start things off. Although we’ll likely get a look at Sparks and whoever the hell else plays in net for the Senators later on in the game, as these pre-season games tend to go.

Puck Drop is at 7:30pm ET on Sportsnet Ontario, for Kraft Hockeyville 2018 out of Lucan, ON.
