The two star Leafs forwards are not the first to appear in the NBC’s production of The Nutcracker. Former Leafs captain Mats Sundin appeared in the role in the winter of 2008, paving the way for the duo within the role, frequently taken up by local celebrities.
Mitch Marner is currently leading the Leafs in points, with 44 through 34 games. Matthews, meanwhile, has been equally dominant, with 17 goals through 20 games played.
