  • Cali...Leaf

    Love the violent gentlemen angle!
Would wear it proudly to our pre Leafs vs Kings skate at the Staples center in March.
If that isn’t a reason to come to S cali in March, the leafs in San J , Anaheim and the Kings (all in 4 days?) I don’t know what is!
Tellin me the wife wouldn’t want to come to say Palm Springs for a week and you drive into the games at Ducks in 90 mins and Kings in 2 hours? Next year Vegas will be in that swing baby!! Coyotes only 3 hrs away as well!
Boys plan the trip to the sun now! Insiders tip Westjet flies (on Wednesdays only)
into Palm Springs ……… direct! Cheap too, some times. Oh … only in season, which March is!

  • The GREAT Walter White

If you were told there was a generational talent playing on team North America (and had not been exposed to the hype about McPassenger) who would you think it was?

    WW

  • madjam

Johnny Gaudreau almost same path J.Eberle took in his second season to fetch his 6M contract . Point wise almost identical in second year . Same type player and size with defensive flaws . Will Flames overpay for Johnny , my guess is they will .

      • madjam

Do you watch hockey ? Eberle suits up well with Gaudreau . Second season Eberle was 76 points in 78 games (39G) , Gaudreau 78 points in 79 games with 30 G . Eberle has done well for Canada in World Championships and his last stint seen him get 13 points in 8 games . Eberle better than JG defensively sorry to say, and that’s not saying much about either in that aspect of the game . Like Johnny but not as much as Eberle . Why your hate on for Eberle anyways ?

  • madjam

Looking forward tonight for the Canuck Oiler young guns game on Edmonton Oilers .com @ 8:30 . Jesse Puljujarvi we finally get to see play , now that’s exciting . Jesse is my choice for Calder , and if he is as confident and cocky as he appears on interview , he might even press for Art Ross this season . He is one big skilled boy that relishes speed . Go Oilers !

    • Bob Long

I would have loved to see Jesse P in a Canucks uniform, but he was too good to pass up! Even though Edmonton should have done the smart thing and get Juolevi I can see why it was too hard to say no to Jesse.

        • Bob Long

Sergachev really only had size as a factor where he maybe is better, but that’s going to change once OJ fills out, which he’s been doing this summer apparently.

Whats impressive about OJ is his confidence and poise – thats usually the last thing to develop in young D guys.

But really, Edmonton needed one of these two D on their roster more than Jessse P if you look at it objectively.

Both of these guys will surpass Adam Larsson. If Edmonton kept Hall and added one of Sergachev or Juolevi, I do think thats better than JP and Larsson. The big thing about Larsson was his GA/60 of 1.35, but that can be very misleading – Luca Sbisa’s last year was 1.45/60 and i don’t hear anyone making comparisons there. If they had done the right thing and picked Sergachev or OJ, they’d have shot suppression + the ability to move the puck, but instead they traded one of the best forwards in the league for – maybe – some shot suppression.

  • @ CanucksArmy

Where is the Young Stars article? Today is the start of hockey season and nothing from you guys.

Thanks Carol, for giving us pertinent info. Start time, where to watch or listen, and who is playing.

  • ChinookArchYYC

This response is priceless. Why are fans so easily trolled into responding? Especially for something like this by someone so adept at at getting a response. Let the player respond by action and results. There’s no reason to be become the defender of the faith.

  • Randaman

I really think it is WW’s avatar that causes all the fuss. Looks like a real scumbag.

    Just sayin

Oh, by the way, even as an Oiler fan, I have to say JG is one hell of a hockey player

  • #97Train/McDavidCopperfield

Gaudreau is one hell of a player. He reminds me of Fluery on the ice but without the always loving attitude and of course he doesn’t have that physical edge but still a great young player!

  • Bob Long

The big difference is he doesn’t have Theo’s toughness, not one bit of it. But he’s a tiny little guy and in todays game its not needed as much out of him as in Theos’ day. My concern for the Flames would be what happens when he finally does get nailed with a hard hit, can he sustain it, particularly in the playoffs.

  • MontanaMan

Full disclosure, I thought the same thing when the Flames signed Gaudreau, but when you watch him play, he very rarely puts himself in a position to get hit. He’s been the smallest guy in every league he’s ever played in, which is why he doesn’t get hit often, so your contention that he’s going to get laid out aren’t a concern. Quite the opposite, players who have always been the biggest in every league (Lindros) who played with their head down in dangerous areas are much more at risk. Nobody held them accountable throughout their career until they reached the NHL and by that point, it was too late for them to change.

  • Bob Long

Oh for sure he’s slippery. As time goes on though D men are going to figure his positioning out more and more, and it doesn’t have to be a big guy that hits him. If there is a physical concern with JG I think an open ice hit is it, albeit its a small possibility and he stays out of the corners too.

Come to think of it, the only corner Gaudreau’s seen in the NHL is at Olympic and 14th on his way into the Saddledome! 😉
