Leafs are reportedly waiting on Nylander’s response to latest offer

With mere minutes before the 5:00 pm ET deadline, the latest reports are that Dubas and the rest of the Leafs’ front office are waiting on Nylander’s decision on their latest contract offer.

Per Darren Dreger on the broadcast of this afternoon’s Sens-Sharks game, the Leafs have offered a contract to re-sign the Restricted Free Agent winger and are currently seeing if there will be a reply before time is up.

This whole saga has already made NHL history, as the longest contract holdout since the 2005-06 lockout. But according to both sides, they do want to stay together long-term and it is all up to the contract dollars now.

We will find out what’s next in just over an hour.

Jankowski, Ryan, Mangiapane, Frolik, Czarnik – no one can seem to get Neal going. I think they have to try Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal, or we are wasting money on this guy, and should move him at the deadline. Maybe the Christmas deadline! Jankowski and Bennett played well together, at times, last season. I wonder how Mangiapane-Jankowski-Bennett would do together? And I wonder if Lazar would not be a better compliment to Peters system, then a guy like Czarnik. – etickets.ca
