It’s a Maple Leafs gameday, baby.
Sheldon Keefe and company have made the trek down the QEW and are ready to tangle with the Buffalo Sabres for the second time this season.
We kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing fighting in minor hockey. The conversation stemmed from an ugly beatdown in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, a video I had Rosey breakdown for all our great viewers/listeners.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on a topic gaining a lot of the steam in this market lately: Why do the Leafs keep getting hosed by the refs? We went over the numbers, too. Over the past five seasons, Toronto has ranked consistently in the bottom 10 of 32 teams in terms of power play per game. Weird, right? A skilled team that somehow can’t draw penalties. Bizarre.
Meantime, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Leafs and Sabres. Of note, these two teams have hit the over in five straight meetings. Ilya Samsonov will get the call. Devon Levi is expected to go for Buffalo. All in all, it will be fascinating to see how the Leafs come out. They’re coming off a hard-fought 5-2 loss to the Rangers while the Sabres were steamrolled 9-4 by Columbus on Tuesday night. They should be fun.
Also, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, we were fortunate enough to spend some time with current All Elite Wrestling star and WWE Hall of Famer Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland. The Orangeville native is a monster Toronto Maple Leafs fan, so it’s always great to catch up with him. For as busy as he is with wrestling and also acting, Edge always knows what’s going up with his Buds.
