Special teams and goaltending —that was the story of Game 3.
Brad Marchand notched two goals and an assist as the Bruins grabbed 2-1 series lead with a 4-2 victory at Scotiabank Arena.
We kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the quiet crowd. Firstly, good on legendary Leafs broadcaster Joe Bowen for calling like it was. It’s disappointing, and quite frankly, it’s just not good enough. You could hear a pin drop in that arena in the second and third period. It’s the playoffs, let’s get active!
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we dove into all the major discussion points pertaining to Game 3. Like Auston Matthews in Game 2, B’s captain Brad Marchand stepped up to the plate. He was fantastic. Additionally, the Leafs power play continues to stink up the joint. In fact, Boston’s outscoring Toronto’s power play 5-1 in the series thus far. Suffice it is to say, if the Leafs are going to win the series, that will have to change. Furthermore, even though he played well, Ilya Samsonov did surrender a few squeakers. On the other end, Jeremy Swayman was fantastic making 28 saves to improve to 5-0 on the season against Toronto. Also, it sounds William Nylander is making progress from his head injury. It would be massive to potentially get him back in the lineup for Game 4.

Meantime, brought to you by Douglas, former Leafs GM and current Executive Director of the PWHLPA Brian Burke dropped by to dish on the series thus far. As per usual, Burkie was opinionated as ever. Given his connection to Brad Treliving, Burkie always bring a unique perspective to the show.

Speaking of which, you won’t want to miss the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Carter Hutton will fill in for Jay Rosehill. In addition to continuing to preview Game 4, we have a very special guest on tap. Former Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle will drop by the show.
