Bruce Boudreau thinks Chris Tanev would be a perfect fit in Toronto: Leafs Morning Take

I won’t lie, I’m feeling positive to start off the final month of 2023.
As Bruce Boudreau eloquently put on Friday’s show, a win is a win is a win, even if it went down the way it did between the Leafs and Kraken at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night.
Seriously, Toronto’s incapable of winning in regulation. It’s December 1st and they have as much regulation wins (5) as the lowly San Jose Sharks.
Whatever.
As referenced, I was fortunate enough to have the legendary Bruce Boudreau as my special guest co-host for the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by breaking down the Nikita Zadorov trade. In case you missed it, the hulking defender, who requested a trade out of Calgary after a shootout loss in Toronto on November 10th, was dealt to the Vancouver Canucks. The Leafs were in on it, but by the sounds of it, the only way they could do it was if the Flames retained salary, and it didn’t sound like Craig Conroy was interested in that. Could Toronto turns its focus next to Chris Tanev? We discussed.

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on yet another shootout victory for the Maple Leafs. Aside from receiving another sparkling performance for Joseph Woll, Mitch Marner was the big story. The 26-year-old potted a hat-trick and added the shootout winner just for good measure. On top of that, we did tackle some negatives, too. I mean, they did blow another 3-1 third period lead, which any way you slice it, is downright unacceptable.
After that, thanks to the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Saturday night’s huge tilt against the Boston Bruins. Six points separate the two rivals in the standings. Tell you what: The Leafs sure could use a win in regulation. It should be a good one.
Lastly, thanks to Charm Diamond Centres, we did the inaugural Ask Boudreau segment where I fired questions sourced from the YouTube chat/social media to Gabby. He was a great sport. We’ll call the segment a success, despite the fact that Gabby asked for a five second intermission to grab a glass of water. What a legend.
Lucky you, Bruce will be co-hosting Monday’s show as well. Join us at 11 AM ET as we recap Leafs/Bruins. Also, our mutual friend Gord Stellick from Sportsnet and SiriusXM NHL Network Radio will drop by for a bit of a roundtable discussion.
Have a great weekend!
