Without question, it’s the calm before the storm.
The next few days should be mighty interesting in Leafs Nation.
We kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing Tuesday night’s NHL Draft Lottery results. For the first time since the new system was implemented, the lottery produced the same draft order. Unsurprisingly, the conspiracy theorists were still out. It’s the same old story every season. Additionally, we discussed the three Hart Trophy finalists. Despite potting 69 goals, Auston Matthews did not make cut. That said, he was named a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award, which is voted on by his peers. That’s probably a more flattering honour, no?
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we speculated on what the rest of the week could look like. If Sheldon Keefe is fired, you would think that could down very soon. Additionally, Rosey broke down what happens behind the scenes for a player before they peace out for summer. How many rounds of golf do you get in?
Meantime, courtesy Wendy’s, we addressed Elliotte Friedman’s remarks from Monday’s episode of 32 Thoughts regarding Jake McCabe. Sportsnet’s NHL Insider disclosed that the Leafs love the 30-year-old blueliner and will look into extending his contract. He’s eligible for that on July 1. What would that look like? Does keeping McCabe make the most sense?

After that, brought to you by Douglas, Bruce Boudreau dropped by the show. We got his thoughts on how the season ended, how he would fix the power play, Mitch Marner’s future, and what could be happening for Sheldon Keefe behind the scenes right now.

Anthony Stewart will fill in for Jay Rosehill on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll continue to dissect the past few days and also look ahead to Friday morning’s massive press conference. Also, Breakfast Television host Sid Seixeiro, who’s never short on opinion, will drop by for a chat.
