Camp Trillium: Helping with Hockey

The battle for the 2014 Stanley Cup is over, but the fight against cancer continues. The fight requires determination, the fight requires support, and the fight requires funding. That’s where you come in.
If you love hockey, the Leafs, and want to help out a great charity in a big way, here’s how you can help and here’s what’s in it for you…

THE STICK

Let’s start with what’s in it for you.
Click here and you’ll find a hockey stick signed by this year’s Toronto Maple Leafs team.
If you have any interest in the Leafs, memorabilia, and making your room, office, or home look completely boss, this stick will be a great add for you! More importantly, all proceeds from the money raised by this stick go directly to Camp Trillium.
The Stick will stay up until June 21, 23:59.

WHO YOU’RE HELPING

Camp Trillium’s official mission statement is that they “offer year-round recreational experiences to bring children with cancer and their families together. We work to provide an environment that normalizes relationships and experiences, helping them in the healing process and enhancing their quality of life.”

THE EVENT

Head down to the MLSE Team-Up Challenge this Sunday, June 22nd at BMO Field in downtown Toronto. It’s an all-day sports tournament where teams compete in soccer, basketball and ball hockey with the goal of raising money to enrich the lives of kids who count on Camp Trillium.
If you want to meet former Leafs and other fancy sports types, the place will be crawling with them! Wendel Clark, Johnny Bower, Al Iafrate, Darryl Sittler, Shayne Corson, Darcy Tucker, Peter Ing, Brad Marsh, Ric Nattress, Mark Osborne, Mike Johnson, Mike Krushelnyski, Lou Franceschetti – and that’s just the former Leafs. There will also be former Raptors, TFC players, Toronto Furies players, broadcasters, and Canadian Olympic gold-medalist Tessa Bonhomme,
Top fundraising teams at the event will have the opportunity to draft an MLSE celebrity to join their team for a portion of the MLSE Team Up Challenge. Imagine feeding Darcy Tucker for one of his patented post-hugging powerplay tap-in goals while he makes the goalie faint by giving him the crazy eyes!
Yeah! That’s the look! That’s terrifying, dude.
Unfortunately the deadline to sign up a full team has passed, but spectators are always welcome and you can sponsor the team of your choosing.
Whether you bid on the awesome signed stick, participate in the MLSE Team Up Challenge, or simply sponsor a team, you’re helping to fight cancer and make the world a better place.
Step up, folks! It’s your shift.
