For the second time in eight days, the Leafs and Coyotes are set to hook up —this time at Scotiabank Arena.
Furthermore, Alex Kerfoot will make his highly anticipated return to Toronto. After spending four seasons with the Maple Leafs, the 29-year-old bolted for the desert last summer.
Meantime, t-minus eight days until the NHL trade deadline. Speaking of which, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the big Chris Tanev trade. Toronto was in it till the end, but ultimately, the Flames elected to deal the rugged defender to Big D. Tanev would’ve been a really good fit for the Maple Leafs, but not for a first round pick. No, thanks.

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on some major lineup news from the morning skate. After missing 35 games with a high ankle sprain, Joseph Woll will finally make his return to Toronto’s crease. In his lone AHL outing last Friday, the 25-year-old made 36 stops in a 4-1 win in Laval. Additionally, the Rielly/Brodie pairing is back together with Brodie playing the right side. This should be fun.
After that, brought to you by the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed game No. 2 of Toronto’s 5-game homestand. Arizona, who’s dropped 13 in a row (0-11-2), is 10-1-1 over its past 12 visits to Scotiabank Arena. Moral of the story: Something has to give. Also, the Kerfoot video tribute should be something, too.
Lastly, courtesy of Douglas, NHL Executive Chuck Fletcher dropped by the show. Yes, we brought up the Silver Fox. Additionally, Fletcher painted a solid picture of what life’s like for an NHL general manager this of year. He also provided some solid insight on potential trade targets for the Maple Leafs like Matt Dumba, Nick Seeler, and Scott Laughton.

Carter Hutton will step in for Jay Rosehill on the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll break down Joseph Woll’s return plus look ahead to Saturday night’s tilt against the New York Rangers. Over and above all that, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger will drop by to dish on what the Leafs may do over the next week.
