Sadly, there were no viral photos in Leafs Nation to discuss on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take.
We kicked off the show by dissecting Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final. In case you missed it, Sam Reinhart potted the OT winner as Florida edged New York 3-2 to tie the series at two games apiece. Meantime, down 2-1 in the Western Conference Final, the Oilers are getting set to host the Stars in Game 4.
After that, we put to bed the fabricated rumours that suggested Mitch Marner had submitted a list of 9 teams to potentially be traded to. As of Tuesday, the two sides have yet to discuss the future. That said, there’s no doubt that conversation is coming over the next few weeks. Additionally, we talked about the baby news: Tessa Virtue is expecting, which means Morgan Rielly is going to be a dad. Congrats to the power couple!
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, Rosey shared his thoughts on the whole Marner/Berube viral coffee picture. There’s never a dull moment in Toronto —that’s for sure. Speaking of which, thanks to Wendy’s, 36-year-old UFA-to-be David Perron, who won a Stanley Cup in St. Louis with Craig Berube joined us. Funny enough, the veteran forward chimed in on the coffee picture. Additionally, he spoke glowingly about his time with Berube, and reading the tealeaves, it seems like he would potentially be open to reuniting with his former bench boss this summer. All things being equal, Perron fits the mould of what the Leafs are looking for. He’s very difficult to play against.

Lastly, we finished with some crease talk. According to a few reports, it sounds like Martin Jones could be open to returning to Toronto next season. With that in mind, we gave our thoughts on a potential Woll/Jones tandem. At the end of the day, we both agreed that the Leafs should aim higher in their pursuit of solidifying the crease. While it’s highly unlikely, bringing Jones back as a tertiary option would be fantastic. That said, there’s no doubt his camp will be looking for a bigger role this summer.
Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin will fill in as co-host for Jay Rosehill on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Talk at 11 AM ET!
