Draft week is finally here!
And with that, business is starting to pick up in a big way across the National Hockey League.
The festivities will kick off in earnest tonight with the NHL Awards. After lighting up Mitch Marner on Friday’s show, I gave Rosey the opportunity to make some friends back as we discussed Marner being up for the Selke Trophy. Patrice Bergeron’s inevitably going to win the award yet again, but having said that, Marner deserves a lot of credit for how much he’s grown as a player. Bravo!
After that, we got into things on the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Firstly, we started with all the trade speculation from over the weekend. As mentioned, things are starting to percolate around the league, but still, not much to report on the Maple Leafs front. Obviously, that will change very soon.

Meantime, I would say Nylander watch is officially on. Crazily, the next week will go a long way in decide his fate in Toronto. We all knew this was coming, right? Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Grab the popcorn!
Once we got all that out of the way, we welcomed in today’s feature presentation: Elliotte Friedman. The NHL Insider for Sportsnet and Hockey Night in Canada packed the heat as per usual. We touched on Nylander, Auston Matthews, the trade market, the goaltending, and free agency. No clickbait here; tons of fantastic nuggets in this interview.

For the Betano Wrap Up, we looked at the various betting markets/props that Betano has set up for Wednesday’s draft. I love it! There are so many angles to look at.
