The AHL and Toronto Marlies have announced that their next three games will be postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
“Following subsequent testing, five players have tested positive for COVID-19.” Said the Marlies in a media release. “All players and staff are double vaccinated and are being closely monitored for symptoms while being tested daily. The team is following all protocols and its medical staff is working closely with Toronto Public Health to monitor the situation.”
Two games this weekend in Grand Rapids, as well as one next Tuesday in Toronto, have been postponed. There have been no make-up dates announced as of yet.
The Marlies have no scheduled games now until Boxing Day, where they play at Scotiabank Arena. At this point, expect that matchup to be up in the air too.
This comes after games throughout both the NHL and AHL have been postponed. Earlier today, reports came of the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Calgary Flames all being shut down until December 27th.
As more cases come to light, expect more games to get postponed as COVID-19 hits hockey and the world.
