While the Maple Leafs were playing the Senators in the Battle of Ontario, the Toronto Furies were playing the Brampton Thunder in the Battle of the GTA. The Battle of the GTA is always a choppy, loud, chaotically fun game, but unfortunately, someone has to take the L.

BLUE WARRIOR

Tonight’s Blue Warrior was, without a doubt, Furies Captain Natalie Spooner. Spooner scored the hattrick to take her team within seconds of overtime and was deservedly named the first star of the game. Tonight’s game was, to quote more than a few fans at the game, ‘the Spooner Show’. She was everywhere at once, fast and fierce with the puck, and found the back of the net behind Erica Howe for all three Furies goals.

SHOUTOUT

Tonight’s shoutout goes to Renata Fast. Fast’s performance tonight, under any other circumstances, would normally have netted her a star or come close to it. She was vicious on the ice tonight, in the best of ways. She fought hard for the puck, gaining an assist on Spooner’s third goal, and creating space for the rest of the Furies.

COMING UP NEXT

The Toronto Furies finish up their back-to-back against the Brampton Thunder Sunday, January 15th at the Brampton Memorial Arena. Puck drops at 1:30pm.
