Bad news for the hoards of fans out there who purchased Connor Brown and/or Kasperi Kapanen jerseys — the two Leafs youngsters will be getting new numbers stitched to the back of their sweaters next season.
With old man Patrick Marleau in the fold, Connor Brown, who rocked No. 12 in his rookie season, will switch to No. 28 to accommodate the 19-year NHL veteran. No. 28 was worn by overtime hero Kasperi Kapanen, but he’ll switch to No. 24, the number worn by his father Sami Kapanen throughout his 13-year NHL career.
BUT WAIT!
Connor Brown doesn’t have a contract yet! How can he be getting a new jersey number! Folks, if anybody is still worried about Brown’s contract and whether or not the team has completely forgotten about it, this should be an indication that Lou and Co. are confident that it’s going to get done.
You may now resume your Wednesday afternoon.
