Leafs and Avs Shift by Shift

Sorry this re-cap was a little late in coming, it’s not as fun writing about the games we lose.
Here are some insights from the Leafs vs. Avs shift charts:
- I’ve been keeping an eye on the Gunnarsson-Phaneuf pairing thus far. Again they spent most of the game together in all situations. They saw a lot of Paul Statsny and a fair bit of The Avs dreaded Thirst line featuring Landeskog. Wilson has split them up on the PP and they didn’t play any of the first PK together. Phaneuf was on the ice for his first goal against. Gunnarsson had already changed for Komisarek though.
- Tonight was really the first night that we saw the Ronco Line-Blender (patent pending) in action. Kessel only played four shifts without Bozak all between the 11 and 19 minute mark of the third period. Wilson kept Lupul and Kessel together the whole game. He gave Lombardi three shifts with the top line and Steckel took the other one.
- Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel take by far the longest shifts on the team; both had a few shifts approach the two minute mark. Phaneuf had one that was just over two minutes.
- The MKG line seems to have a pretty consistent shift length.
- Grabbo, Kulemin and MacArthur had been on the ice for about a minute (their longest shift of the night) before Kulemin tied the game. Both Winnik and O’Reilly had been on the ice for the same length of time.
- Once again everyone played past the 10 minute mark of the third period. With Dupuis being the first to ride the pine shortly thereafter.
- For the Avs both T.J. Galiardi and Cody McLeod saw their night end just before the 10 minute mark of the third.
Wilson did not really do that much line blending, and the MKG line saved the day, may they never find their Yoko.
