This game had a tough act to follow, but the Leafs and Pens were up to the task.

1st Period

The Buds came out flying in this one, getting a couple early chances before taking the first penalty of the night and letting Crosby do this to open the scoring just past the halfway point of the opening frame.
Just over 3 minutes later, definitely real person Teddy Blueger finds some soft ice and puts a shot just over Sparks’ elbow to give the Penguins a 2 goal lead.
Luckily for all of us with under 3 left to play in the 1st, the top 4 pairing of Gardiner and Dermott connect for a point shot that squeaks through Murray and Auston Matthews is able to tuck it into the yawning net.
I know these are usually reserved for goals, but this play was too great from Kadri not to include to keep the boys a goal back going into the first intermission.
2nd Period

Noted cheaters, the Pittsburgh Penguins are unable to change after an icing and top 4 defenseman Travis Dermott makes them pay to tie the game up at 2.

In the waning minutes of the middle stanza, Zach Hyman is able to corral the rebound on a Rielly shot for his first 5 on 5 goal in *checks notes* ever.
3rd Period
No goals in the 3rd, because I forgot I agreed to write this and had to spend half of the period trying to remember how to use WordPress.
3-2 Leafs win!!!
Nice work everyone…
Who Wore The Crown?
Now for everyone’s favourite section “Who Wore The Crown?” brought to you by Crown Royal.
This award is to go to the hardest working player of the night. There were a few Leafs who popped out but I thought Marner had a really solid all-around game, blocking shots while setting up a couple great looks for his lucky linemates. Almost had an empty netter to top off the night but missed it by inches.
The Maple Leafs are at home to Randy Carlyle’s Ducks on Monday.
