The Rimouski Oceanic have beaten the Quebec Remparts by a score of 2-1 in Game 7 to win the President’s Cup, making Leafs prospect Frederik Gauthier a QMJHL Champion.
Gauthier picked up one very, very important assist in the game, setting up Michael Joly’s game winner in double overtime…

More past the jump…
The 21st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Gauthier had a strong postseason with two goals and 16 points in 20 games. Gauthier also scored 32 points in 37 regular season games.
The Oceanic have now punched their ticket to the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup, which just so happens to be hosted by the Remparts team they just defeated. Also joining the Oceanic and Remparts in Quebec City will be WHL’s Kelowna Rockets and the OHL’s Oshawa Generals. The festivities will begin this Friday, May 22nd.
Gauthier was not the only Leafs prospect to lift a championship trophy recently either – Sioux Falls Stampede centre Dakota Joshua won the USHL’s Clark Cup this past Friday.
