Tony Cameranesi had an assist in Minnesota Duluth’s 5-3 loss to cross-campus rivals Minnesota on Friday night, and went pointless in Saturday’s 2-2 tie.
It’s fair to say that Cameranesi is playing through a little bit of a slump. The UMD Bulldogs are mired in a nine-game winless streak, during which Cameranesi has managed only two goals and two assists. Four points in nine games isn’t awful, but it should be noted that prior to this stretch Cameranesi had 22 points in 23 games.
With four games left in Minnesota-Duluth’s season, Cameranesi sits 5th in WCHA Freshman Scoring with 26 points in 32 games, but only two points behind Michigan Tech’s Alex Petan for the lead. Two good series against Alabama-Huntsville and Nebraska Omaha to close out Minnesota Duluth’s season could propel Cameranesi to the top.
Morgan Rielly had a goal and an assist in three games this past week, bringing his totals to 12 goals and 46 points in 50 games this season. What’s more impressive? Moose Jaw has scored only 157 goals all season, and Rielly has been directly involved in 29.2% of them.
Tyler Biggs had two goals, two assists in three games this past week – something to celebrate since his production has cooled off in 2013. In 20 games since the calendar flipped, Biggs has nine goals and 15 points. In November alone, he had 17 points in 13 games.
Biggs is scoring at an 0.89Pt/G pace this season, with 24 goals and 24 assists in 54 games. He’s third in team scoring behind Boone Jenner and Scott Laughton. He’s also 54th in OHL scoring, if you feel like being pessimistic.
Josh Leivo scored a goal in Kitchener’s 2-1 win over Brampton on Sunday, snapping a three-game pointless streak that followed his impressive 14-game point streak. TSN’s Bob McKenzie had this to say about it…
Lastly, Dominic Toninato had three assists in two games over the weekend for the Fargo Force. Toninato is on a nice little seven-game point streak, with three goals and six assists during that span. His 20 goals and 52 points are good for 8th in USHL scoring.
