Leafs sign Trevor Moore to two-year contract extension

After deserving a call-up to the NHL and looking like he belongs, the Leafs have signed forward Trevor Moore to a two-year contract extension on Sunday.

The contract will have an AAV of $775,000 – $750,000 in 2019-20 and $800,000 in 2020-21.

The 23-year-old native of Thousand Oaks, California has played a total of six games for the Leafs so far this season. He made his NHL debut on December 23rd in a game against the Detroit Red Wings.

In those six games, Moore has one goal and two assists – significantly impressive since he has been on the lower end of ice-time among forwards, only averaging just over eight minutes per game this season.

He initially signed with the Leafs as a college free agent from the University of Denver in 2016. Immediately making an impact with the Marlies, he has a total of 44 goals and 48 assists in 155 AHL games through the last three seasons. Moore was a vital part of the Calder Cup-winning team and has been deserving of a call-up, to some, for a while now.

There are no details about this in the release, but one must assume that this is a one-way contract for the forward.
