The Leafs travel down the QEW to visit the Chamber of Horrors which has been renamed First Niagare Centre. The rematch against the Sabres will see Jonas Gustavsson play the full sixty minutes against fellow European Jhonas Enroth.
More thoughts and lineups after the jump
The Sabres’ two best defencemen Robyn Regehr and Tyler Myers slot back into the lineup alongside Christian Ehrhoff. Luckily, Ryan Miller is getting a rest so the odds of the Leafs getting shutout are not entirely certain. Among the forwards, Derek Roy will get rested after wrenching his shoulder last night and the team’s marquee UFA forward Ville Leino will make his first appearance against the Leafs. Nathan Gerbe has also dropped out of the lineup apparently since he is ashamed to show his face after getting jerseyed by John-Michael Liles. The roster is still three players heavy for two forwards and a defenceman will be scratched prior to puck drop
The Leaf are going with an experimental lineup as they approach the final set of cuts. Joe Colborne and Matt Frattin will be getting a great chance to make a final impression on the coaching staff. They’ll both be heading down to the Marlies before the end of camp but this will help give them an idea of what they will have to do to reach their ultimate goal. Tyler Bozak is still out of the lineup so Darryl Boyce will slot in on the third line while Kenny Ryan joins the fourth line. On the back end, the Leafs are only dressing two of their putative top six in Schenn and Komisarek (I don’t want it but it’s going to happen). Gardiner will look to continue his impressive play but the trio of him, Mikus, and Lashoff will be joining the Marlies likely on Sunday morning.
