Tonight, the Leafs head to the Western edge of Canada to take on the Vancouver Canucks. This will be the 3rd and final game of the Western Canadian road trip, after beating the Oilers and the Flames this past week.
On the edge of a playoff spot, the Canucks are doing much better than many had assumed at the start of the year.
The Leafs, as we all know, have been very good but leaving a lot of areas to improve as the season goes on. The lines have been a bit blender-ed lately, and the defense has been hit and miss.

The Canucks won’t be an easy opponent, but certainly the Leafs are to be favoured here. The Leafs have a strong advantage in CF% (50.73 vs. 48.19) and xGF% (51.77 vs. 48.08).
Goaltending has been a strength for the Leafs of late, with Frederik Andersen turning things around in November once again.
For the Canucks it has been similar, with Jakob Markstrom struggling in the early goings, but Anders Nilsson providing strong relief.
All in all I think this game will continue the Leafs’ current 2 game win streak, and continue the Canucks’ tough stretch, winning only 4 of the last 10 games.
