LGD: You have selected Regicide

Tonight is the battle between the team that stuck with Mike Richard’s horrible contract and the team perceived to be dumb enough to trade for Mike Richard’s contract. Or you can look at as a matchup between the team that Tim Leiweke claims to fixed and the team he actually fixed.Truly a battle for the ages.

The Leafs

The Leafs on the other hand recently beat the Blue Jackets and discovered possession hockey, so things are on the up and up, even if Korbinian Holzer hasn’t been waived yet. All signs point to the Leafs going with the same lineup that worked against the Blue Jackets on Friday. And since the Blue Jackets are nothing more than future Kings the Leafs have every reason to believe the lines will work.
Lineup via Daily Faceoff
Winnik – Bozak – Kessel
van Riemsdyk – Kadri – Panik
Komarov – Santorelli – Clarkson
Booth – Smith – Bodie
Phaneuf – Franson
Rielly – Polak
Gardiner – Robidas

The Kings

The Kings, I’m told, are a very good team, but they play in the west and who wants to stay up to watch Darryl Sutter hockey? They currently sit behind the Winnipeg Jets in the standings which is always a sign that a team is serious about defending their Stanley Cup title.
Keep an eye for future Leaf captain Justin Williams. Sooooooo clutch.
Lineup via Daily Faceoff
Gaborik – Kopitar – Carter
Brown – Stoll – Williams
King – Richards – Lewis
Clifford – Andreoff – Nolan
McNabb – Doughty
Muzzin – Greene
Schultz – Martinez

Starting Goaltenders

What to Watch For

  • I dunno, about a zillion references to 93 Conference Finals
  • Even more complaints about how late the game is
  • Kopitar is normally very fun to watch. I’m guessing it’s less fun when he’s playing the Leafs
  • Statsgasm from watching Cody Franson play against Jake Muzzin
  • How Dustin Brown isn’t much better than David Clarkson
  • Who the hell is Andy Andreoff and how is he not Russian?
  • I’m still looking for validation on this…
Check out our Rival
Holy Crap! We finally have a game against a Nations Network rival and it’s the team that was smart enough to not re-acquire Matt Frattin after unloading him for a ridiculously talented player. Check out The Royal Half preview and remind them that Jeff Carter will never be as handsome as Jonathan Bernier.
