The fourth-round selection by the Leafs at the 2018 NHL Draft, Mac Hollowell, has had a stellar start to his last season in the OHL with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Third among defenceman in points, with 15 over 13 games, the right-shot Hollowell earned the title of OHL Defenceman of the Month for October.
Only seven of his fifteen points has come at even-strength, but that is really expected with the killer powerplay that the Greyhounds have had for a while now. Because of Sandin choosing either the AHL or Sweden for his place to play and Conor Timmins graduating, Hollowell is now the “go-to” defenceman for the Greyhounds.
At 5v5, Hollowell is fifth among OHL defencemen in SOG with 34. That amount of shots clearly is the reason why at even-strength, he has more goals than assists.
In the future, Hollowell will most likely play for the Marlies next season and his ceiling might just be a defenceman that can effectively run a powerplay.
