Maple Leafs at Rangers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Maple Leafs are 28-18-7 on the season and bettors will have to decide how much stock to put in their 9-4 record as an away favourite since Sheldon Keefe took over as coach, as they are missing Andersen (neck). Offensively, Maple Leafs attackers such as Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander have steadily generated chances lately, keeping Toronto fifth in the 31-team NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (52.6 percent). The Maple Leafs are third in goals scored (3.58 per game) and 25th in goals against (3.25). On special teams, the power play is ranked fifth (24.8 percent) but the penalty killing unit is ranked 25th (77.0).
Hutchinson has a 4-8-1 record with a 3.62 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage this season.
The Rangers are 25-22-4, including a 4-5 record in home games against the Atlantic Division. The presence of center Mika Zibanejad and left wing Artemi Panarin, among others, gives New York a fighting chance in games with a more open style of play, although the Rangers often have to make the most of their offensive zone time as they are 30th in the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (46.4 percent). The Rangers are eighth in goals scored (3.25 per game) but 23rd in goals against (3.22). Their power play is ranked seventh (23.5 percent) while their penalty-killing unit is ranked 23rd (78.1).
New York will give the goaltending start to rookie Igor Shesterkin, who has a 3-1-0 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and .927 save percentage.
The Maple Leafs have back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, hosting the Anaheim Ducks on Friday before visiting the rival Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
