Matt Larkin thinks the Craig Berube hire won’t be the biggest move the Leafs make this summer: Leafs Morning Take

This not just in: The Florida Panthers remain a buzzsaw.

In case you missed it, Paul Maurice’s bunch drew first blood against the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final with a nice and tidy 3-0 victory at the Garden. Matthew Tkachuk kicked off the scoring and Sergei Bobrovsky was very solid notching the 23 save shutout. Same old story.

Naturally, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the final four. The Panthers are certainly a juggernaut, but so are the Rangers, Oilers, and Stars. Best of all, someone fresh and new is going to hoist Lord Stanley this season. Still wish it was the Maple Leafs, though. After sobbing about that for a few minutes, we rolled on to the Sheldon Keefe news. The now former Leafs head coach was unemployed for a grand total of 14 days. Funny enough, the dynamic seems to be the same in Jersey: All offence, no goaltending. We all know where this is headed, right? A Leafs/Devils playoff series. Imagine?

Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we dove into some news about what could be happening with the rest of the coaching staff now that Craig Berube is in the mix. Adding fuel to the fire, Marc Savard and the Calgary Flames mutually agreed to part ways on Wednesday. There have been no confirmations just yet, but it seems very likely that Savard could be set to join Berube’s staff. One way or another, we’ll start getting some answers over the next few weeks.

 

After that, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin, who was at the Berube presser on Tuesday morning, dropped by to dish on everything that’s happened over the past week. We started with Berube before shifting over to an Easton Cowan debate. Lastly, we finished off with some Sheldon Keefe talk.
