Morgan Rielly named to Team North America World Cup initial roster

Morgan Rielly is a pretty good hockey player, as you probably know. One of the best young players in the game, you might say. Today, Rielly was named as part of North America’s roster for the 2016 World Cup of hockey later this year.
(Players eligible for the team have to be born on or later than Sept. 18, 1992)
This isn’t all that surprising that he was named to the initial roster (with the additions being announced later on), with games being played in Toronto and all, but it’s nice to see Rielly rewarded in what should be a fun tournament to watch. There’s definitely a few big defensive names left off the list (Jacob Trouba, Dougie Hamilton), and the selection should likely give Rielly a boost in confidence, if nothing else.
At age 21 (turning 22 next week), Rielly has 27 points through 61 games this season, which ranks 37th amongst defencemen in the league, and first amongst D-men selected to this team.
