NHL Puckdoku answers and clues: October 10th, 2023

The new game “Puckdoku” is taking the hockey world by storm. Here’s how it works. There’s a 3×3 grid, and each row and column are marked with either a team or a statistic of some sort. You have to guess players who meet the criteria for both the column and the row for the square you’re on. For example…if your square is in the Toronto Maple Leafs’ column and the St. Louis Blue row…Ryan O’Reilly would work. If it’s in the Washington Capitals column and the row says “40+ goals in a season”, Alex Ovechkin would work. You can play the daily Puckdoku puzzle here:
There’s also a rarity score in the form of a percentage next to the player you guess…the lower the percentage, the more rare the guess. Once you start getting used to the game, you want to shoot for a low rarity score.
Without further ado, here are some hints for today’s Puckdoku puzzle.
NOTE: The Triple Gold Club is a group of players who have won all three of a World Junior gold medal, an Olympic gold medal, and a World Championships gold medal.
Penguins/Maple Leafs: Player currently plays for a Central Division team
Red Wings/Maple Leafs: Player is a goaltender who was a three-time all-star
Maple Leafs/drafted Round 5+: Player only ever played for the Maple Leafs and New York Islanders
Penguins/Kings: Player also spent time with the Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets
Red Wings/Kings: Player was a first round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins
Kings/drafted Round 5+: Player has a Calder, a Stanley Cup, and eight all-star games to his name
Penguins/Triple gold club: Player’s nickname is “The Kid”
Red Wings/Triple gold club: Player is a four-time Cup winner and a 12-time all-star
Drafted round 5+/Triple gold club: Player won a Cup with the Detroit Red Wings
